The Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN) will organise in a High-Level Side Event at the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 73) on 25 September 2018, 11am to 1pm, at UN Headquarters in New York. The event, hosted by the government of Panama, is called “Using the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) to guide innovative policies to eradicate poverty in all its dimensions”. Speakers will share how they are using multidimensional poverty metrics to fight the interlinked features of poverty in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event coincides with the 20 September 2018 launch by OPHI and the UNDP of the updated global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) data. The 2018 global MPI includes adjustments to indicators so that the global MPI better aligns with the SDGs.
