On March 14th, the full Cabinet of Panama, presided by President Juan Carlos Varela, approved an innovative Plan called Panama For All: Zero Poverty. The plan includes finalizing the National Multidimensional Poverty Index to have ready to launch officially at the end of June.

The Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN) will be holding a special High-Level Side Event at the UN Statistical Commission in New York from 1:15pm to 2:30pm on Tuesday 7 March.

The Armenia Multidimensional Poverty Index was launched by the National Statistics Service in Armenia along with the World Bank as part of the annual report “Social Panorama and Poverty in Armenia”. The selection of MPI dimensions was based on a series of consultations with key stakeholders. The index considers the following dimensions: basic needs, housing, education, work and health.

“Democracy and Social Decisions” was the title of Professor Amartya Sen’s lecture held on January 18 at Oxford University.

The Mexican Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID), with the support of the Multidimensional Poverty Network, organized the session “Multidimensional Poverty: Southern Experiences” as part of the Second High-Level Meeting of the World Development Association (Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation) in Nairobi, Kenya.
