The 7th Annual Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN) meeting took place from the 1st to the 3rd of July. The meeting was hosted by the Government of Seychelles and its Ministry of Family Affairs and the National Bureau of Statistics, with the support from the MPPN secretariat, the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).

This year’s meeting was thoroughly stimulating. There were 21 countries and 6 agencies in attendance. The meeting began with the launch of the Seychelles Pilot National MPI by the President Danny Faure and ministers of Family Affairs, Education and Health.

The annual gathering provided dynamic exchanges and high levels of participant engagement, featuring parallel sessions, regional working groups and Davos-Style sessions. Among other topics, special attention was given to national experiences in developing the MPI, navigating political transitions, and how the measures could be used for policy action, and how to report the measures for tracking progress towards the SDGs.

We were delighted to have received a 2-minute greeting video for this year’s MPPN participants from UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner who encouraged the Network to continue and strengthen its work. Please do watch the video.

An album with photos of the event is also available on this link.
