6th Annual Meeting of the MPPN kicks off in Johannesburg, South Africa

The 6th Annual High-Level Meeting of the Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN) kicked off today in Johannesburg, South Africa. This year’s Meeting is hosted by South Africa’s Ministry for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, with the support of the Department of Social Development and OPHI. The event aims to foster South-South exchange among participants by drawing together policy makers, statisticians, and representatives from international agencies to share and discuss initiatives to address multidimensional poverty.

Participants in this year’s Meeting include government representatives from Angola, Botswana, Chad, Chile, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Panama, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand and Vietnam. Representatives from the following agencies are also in attendance: Southern African Development Community (SADC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – Panama, Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), African Development Bank, UNDP – Djibouti, German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and Overseas Development Institute (ODI).
