The World Bank launched the report entitled “Monitoring Global Poverty” by the Commission on Global Poverty chaired by Sir Anthony Atkinson. This commission was established by the World Bank’s Chief Economist to advise the institution on how to measure and monitor poverty globally. Among the main recommendations adopted by the World Bank, is to incorporate a measure of multidimensional poverty based on the counting method as a complementary indicator for measuring poverty.
