On March 5, 2019, 1:15-2:30pm, the Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN) will host a side event at the UN Statistical Commission at the UN Headquarters in New York, Conference Room C. The theme of the side event will be: “Multidimensional Poverty: Measurement for Action”.
The event will be chaired by Mr Risenga Maluleke, the Statistician-General of South Africa and head of Statistics South Africa (Stats SA).

The MPPN has hosted side events annually at each of the four most recent UNSC Sessions. As in previous years, this side event will provide an opportunity for leading statisticians and MPPN members at the forefront of innovations in poverty measurement to discuss and share their experiences using multidimensional poverty measures.
The 50th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission will take place from 5-8 March 2019 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (Conference Room C). Agenda items include: data and indicators for Agenda 2030, open data, national accounts, regional statistical development, education statistics, household surveys and statistical capacity building, among others.
